Support Front Line Healthcare Workers In Our Area

Dear Residents of Providence Plantation,
It is obvious that we are all living through some very strange times.  Those of us who have been able to maintain both our health and our sources of income are indeed fortunate.  In times like this the HOA always receives numerous requests to advertise for many worthwhile causes, and our policy has always been to decline to advertise for any individual cause, no matter how worthy it may be.
In light of the unprecedented Covid based situation we are now in, thought has been given to re-think our policy, as this is a time when charitable contributions are needed more than ever.  While the members of the Providence Plantation HOA Board of Directors does not endorse or favor any individual charity, we do encourage everyone to re-think their personal policies regarding charitable contributions, and consider giving more, or to different causes.
With that in mind, we have been contacted by one Providence Plantation resident that is willing to do the work involved in launching a particular fund-raising program benefiting the health care workers in our area.  The HOA Board has voted to make an exception to our policy and advise you of her plan.  Please see her letter below.
Bob Hayes, President
Providence Plantation HOA
Dear Neighbors,
We hope this email finds you all safe and well during this uncertain time. It has been nice to connect with many of you on walks over the past few weeks.  We are all doing our part to successfully flatten the curve in Charlotte.
We have become aware of a campaign to support healthcare workers in our community.  Novant Health has set up a disaster relief fund for the benefit of its frontline healthcare workers who have put themselves in harm’s way to take care of our local COVID-19 patients.  Proceeds from the fund are paying for medical supplies, childcare, lodging, financial assistance and food for employees as well as providing financial support for COVID-19 patients.
We would be thrilled if you would join us by donating $25, $50, $100 or more to the Novant Health Disaster Relief Fund.  Those who donate to the fund will receive a purple ribbon to wrap around their tree, mailbox or light post to show their support for our healthcare heroes.
To donate, click

or mail a check, payable to NH Presbyterian Medical Center Foundation, to 220 Hawthorne Lane Charlotte, NC 28204.  You are also welcome to drop off a check by our house at 4537 Kuykendall Road here in Providence Plantation, and we will forward it to the Foundation.

Thank you in advance for considering a donation to the COVID-19 Fund.  If you have any questions, please reach out to one of us or contact Justin Trakas at the

Novant Health Foundation at or 704-384-5771.

P.S. We are also looking for volunteers to help put up signs in the neighborhood, deliver purple ribbons as needed, and if you have room in a garage, to store signs for later use. Contact us at 704-845-9808 or if you would like to help.
